It is hard to believe that it has been a little over a
year
(May 8th, 2007) since we lost our friend, mentor,
co-founder and leader Steve Oliver. As we continue the
work he helped to start, we also continue to honor him
by serving others. We know that Steve would be proud of
the work that we have completed since his passing and
all the great things that are yet to come.
Steve took people under his wing, and
one by one, pointed them toward a path of service. He never intruded
into the private lives of others unless invited, and when he was, he
helped others to face up to life realistically. He fought hard for
what he believed in, sometimes perhaps too hard, and sometimes
perhaps to his own detriment, but always honestly and courageously.
He was never more at peace and in harmony than when serving the
disabled. He devoted his life and work to helping people with
disabilities and guided many others along his path.
Steve challenged us to be better, to live more committed lives, and
still have fun along the way. We will miss our friend Steve, but we
know that he is at peace, and we continue to honor him by
remembering the legacy he left behind.
We envision him in a Heavenly
banquet, dinning and laughing together with many of the people he
served during his life, listening for the first time to those
stories they could not tell him here on earth.
May the dream he helped to make our dream, never die!
