Upcoming Wheelchair Distributions

Push International wants your team to have the best experience abroad as possible. We have set aside dates that we usually do Wheelchair Distributions and Outreaches but if you have another set of dates that you would like to come work with the disabled community abroad please let us know. We would love to host your team during your spring break, mid-winter break, Thanksgiving weekend or other times of the year that suit your needs.

We are also very open to having Occupational or Physical Therapy schools bring students to a Hub for in field instruction and hands-on experience.

A typical Distribution

Youth groups, sports teams, Boys and Girl Scouts, senior organizations, medical association groups, rotary clubs, families, friends or other types of groups come to work and gain first hand experience positively impacting the lives of the international disabled community at a Push International Hub. Each week Push International hosts a different group. During that week the group has the opportunity to participate in at least two days of wheelchair distribution, work side by side with a local community based group, participate in clothing distributions, work with children with disabilities in our local rehabilitation center, assist in equestrian therapy or work on construction projects at the Push International Hub. Activities will vary due to the interest or focus of the group but will always include at least two days of wheelchair distribution. Please have your group leader contact Jeff Musgrave to explore the specific interests of your team to design a focused and exciting week for you.

Rates:

Push International recognizes and honors all volunteer’s contributions to the work that we do. We would not exist if it were not for the work of our volunteers.

To keep our operating costs low and ensure that our donor’s money is spent serving the disabled we require anyone who wants to participate in a wheelchair distribution or outreach to pay Grounds Fees.

Your Grounds Fees include in country housing, transportation, meals, Hub specific historical background, encounter with in country Hub partners with translator when applicable, pre-event coordination, post-event follow up support, an international insurance policy, Push International t-shirt to commemorate your participation and in-country staff-support.

As of October 2006 Rates are:

$450 per person for a one week distribution or outreach at the Mazatlan, Mexico Hub + airfare.

We have a travel agent that we use regularly who will be happy to arrange your travel plans. Group travel rates may apply. You can contact

*Note to Church Based Groups*

Push International is a humanitarian organization with no religious affiliation. However some of our staff does have extensive training and background working with religious based groups. Push International volunteers and staff come from a wide variety of faith traditions and practices. Since we respect each other’s beliefs, traditions, and practices we made a conscious choice not to affiliate ourselves with any particular denomination. We welcome groups from all faiths and we would love to have your group join us for a week long outreach but please be aware that your church must provide a spiritual leader for the group. Push staff will act as facilitators for your outreach and provide as much support as possible to your team and their leaders for you mission trip.

The majority of the church based groups that join us on Outreaches annually are youth groups/mission trips. Historically, upwards of 90% of groups return and repeat such a positive experience as this. We love to have youth because it provides an eye opening first hand experience of service in action.

Youth groups from the US are given the opportunity to pair with a local church providing an opportunity for multi-cultural faith-filled interaction. The two groups work side by side filling the needs of a local community. Many of the people who receive mobility aids at the wheelchair distributions belong to the local church’s community. In addition to wheelchair distributions the youth address other needs within the local church such as construction, clothing, evangelism and bible study. This is a great opportunity for multicultural interaction and disability awareness.
